The IIS University offers a wide range of learning resource and facilities to further the cause of research promotion.

Central Library

  • The University boasts of a well stacked library with a rich collection of:
  • About Text books 40,000  and 15000 reference books

  • Current and back volumes of National and International journals and periodicals in print and online formats
  • Latest reference material, including dissertations and thesis
  • Audio-Visual CDs

The cental library at the IIS University subscribes to the following journals:

E-Library
In keeping with the latest trends and innovations in the field of IT, the University has developed an e-library which provides access to thousands of journals, texts and abstracts through the following on-line libraries and databases:

  • QUESTIA (the online library)
  • DELNET
  • INFLIBNET-Springer link (extending access to 1100 Journals)
  • EBSCO’s Management database
  • JSTOR Electronic database
  • American Information Resource Centre

 The library has adequate number of computer terminals and other accessories adequate to cater to the needs of users. The computer terminals are meant for users to access Online Public Access Catalogue, databases, ebooks, e-journals and other e-resources. The entire campus of university is Wi-Fi enabled including library, to provide wireless access to the Internet.

Research Laboratories
The University has well equipped research laboratories with trained technicians and proper protocols to provide the necessary support base to the the faculty and students involved in research work.

ICT and Other Resources
The University provides to its faculty members and research scholars, easy access to the following ICT resources:

  • Internet connectivity with wi-fi facility
  • Licensed Microsoft and other softwares, like SPSS package, mathematica etc
  • Licensed Jewellery designing software  Rhinoceros 4.0 3D, Fashion designing software Richpeace Garment CAD ver 5.0, Pattern making & grading software, ARAHE  weave and paint Textile Designing software.
  • Linkage with the National Knowledge Network in collaboration with National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT)
  • Sophisticated latest electronic equipments, like the print and photocopying machine and automated cataloging facility
  • Virtual Learning Centre for online access to other modern digital  library facilities

3. Initiatives

Research Promotion Committee, strives towards creating an environment, conducive for research by facilitating the faculty and students to take up research and keeping them abreast with the latest trends.
Research Promotion Committee (RPC) look after the following functions:
1.  Provides information about projects, research grants and fellowships, seminars and conferences announced by various external and internal agencies from time to time.
2. Organizes interactive sessions with experts by way of guest lectures on current trends in research and research methodology to enhance research oriented skills of the faculty members and students.
3. Makes recommendations regarding the allocation and use of recurrent funds for research.
4. Grants seed money to the young faculty and students to initiate research.
5. Organizes in- house FDPs, seminars, etc. for capacity building.
6. Oversees the need for establishing research laboratories with the latest equipments and software.
7. Recommends subscription to some of the best national and international peer-reviewed and refereed journals, periodicals, e-resources etc.
8. Advises the University authorities on allocation of budget for various research promotional activities.
9. Recommends and forwards the cases of the faculty for the sanction of Academic leaves for attending conferences/seminars/training programmes.
10. Felicitates meritorious Research Scholars annually and awards Certificates of Appreciation to those faculty members who are actively involved in research based activities.
11. Recommends the grant of Research fellowships to the research scholars.

Projects
The collaborative and interdisciplinary research is encouraged at the University through association with leading researchers and academicians. In order to develop research acumen in the staff and the students and to provide an academic environment to inculcate in them a research orientation, the University undertakes the following activities:

  • In house research funding for undertaking research projects.
  • Encouragement and support for undertaking projects, funded by external agencies.

Faculty Projects
In order to promote research-based activities among staff members the University has initiated an innovative scheme to sanction/grant minor research projects to faculty-members in every academic year. Started in the session 2008-09, the initiative bore encouraging results and necessary financial assistance provided to staff members from different faculties.
