Report of Online 15 Days Interdisciplinary Refresher Course/ Faculty development Programme on Research Methodology and Teaching Pedagogy

 An  Online 15 Days Interdisciplinary Refresher Course/ Faculty Development Programme on Research Methodology and Teaching Pedagogy  was organized by The Centre for Research, Innovation and Training (CRIT),  IIS ( Deemed to be University), Jaipur, from 16-30 March, 2021. The course was organized with the following objectives:

 

  • Enhancing the analytical skills using various tools.
  • Promoting quality research
  • To identify right statistical tool for conducting quality research
  • Learning experience for personality enrichment
  • Augmentation of personal capabilities
  • Access to global resources.

 

 The 15 days refresher course comprised of the Inaugural session, 24 technical sessions and the valedictory session. The course was delivered through pre-recorded video lectures. The participants were assessed on the basis of quiz and assignments. The course was attended by fifty one participants from different parts of the country.

The inaugural session of the seminar began with lamp lighting followed by the welcome address of the Hon’ble Chancellor of the University, Dr. Ashok Gupta.  He stated that it is essential to nurture and innovative mindset and develop those set of technical skills which can be translated into exciting career opportunities. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. T.N. Mathur, also welcomed the participants and stressed the importance digital skills and competencies for teachers. Prof. K.S. Sharma, Director, Centre for research, Innovation and Training gave an overview of CRIT and highlighted the objectives of the refresher programme. CA Priya Jain, Organizing Secretary gave the glimpse of areas that were to be covered during the refresher course. Prof. Raakhi Gupta, Rector and Registrar, IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur delivered the vote of thanks.

The resource persons for Day 1 were Prof. T.N. Mathur, IIS (Deemed to be University), Dr Harshita Bhargava and Dr Amita Sharma who introduced the programme and also Basics of research and E- learning. The day 2 began with CA Priya Jain who delivered lecture on Google classroom. The afternoon session on Day 2 was taken by Dr. Aastha Pareek, Ms. Joshita Sharma and Mr. Tikesh Kumawat from IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur. The speakers elaborated on video recording and editing tools.

The speakers for Day 3 were Dr. Ruchi Nanda, Dr. Navneet Sharma, Dr Aastha Saxena, Dr. Deepshikha Bhatia and Ms Priyanka Dewatwal from IIS (Deemed to be University). They discussed about online software and online graphic and designing tools. The sessions on Day 4 were related to gaming tools and evaluating and reviewing MOOC’s. The speakers for the sessions were Dr. Anubha Jain, Dr. Priyanka Verma, Dr. Geetika Vyas, Dr Chhavi Jain and Dr. Amita Sharma from IIS (Deemed to be University), Jaipur. The sessions on Day 5 was related to Ethics in research writing and referencing and advanced searching tools. The speakers were Dr. Vijay Singh Rathore, Dr. Shreemoyee Chatterjee, Dr. Amita Sharma and Dr. Sonal Jain from IIS (Deemed to be University). Systematic review of literature and Metanalysis was dealt by Ms. Osheen Modi, Dr Amita Sharma and Dr. Roopam Kothari on Day 6. Ms. Aaysu Mahla from Subramian and Associates and Dr. Abhishek Kumar Tiwari, Deputy Director, Law College, University of Rajasthan explained about procedures and rules regarding patent, copyrights and plagiarism. Dr. Smita Pandey along with Dr Sonal Jain explained about scientific journal finder, indexing and impact factor. Dr. Pooja Choraria and Ms, Surbhi Gupta discussed in detail about basics of descriptive statistics on Day 8. The resource persons on Day 9 were Dr. Ankita Chaturvedi, Dr. Princy Thomas and Dr. Shilpi Saxena. They elaborated on basics of inferential statistics and statistical software (SPSS). Descriptive statistics and parametric testing were explained by Prof Roopa Mathur, Dr Ruchi Jain and Dr. Vandana Sachdeva from IIS (deemed to be University). Non parametric testing and factor analysis were taken by Dr. Shweta Kastiya, Dr. Anju Singh, Dr Shilpi Saxena and Dr. Mridula Sharma. On the last day Correlation and regression analysis were dealt in detail by Dr. Roopam Kothari and Dr Anju Singh. The sessions were followed by valedictory session.
