National Conference on Strengthening Indian Economy and Business: Challenges, Initiatives and Strategies

The Department of Management, IIS (Deemed to be University), Jaipur organized the National Conference on Strengthening Indian Economy and business: Challenges, Initiatives and Strategies on 12-13 October 2018. The Conference was organized by the Disciplines of Human Resource Management and International Business & Advertising and Brand Management, Department of Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management. The Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony was Sh. Nishant Patni, Founder of the Editors Choice Award winning Application called “Hello English”. In all there were four technical sessions covering challenges and strategic initiatives in finance, marketing, human resource management and information technology. The conference provided a forum to bring together well experienced academicians, economists, practitioners, researchers and experts to deliberate on the various aspects of commerce, Finance, HRM, Marketing and information Technology.

 

 

Day 1

Inaugural Session

The conference commenced with the Inaugural Ceremony.  The Chief Guest for the ceremony was Sh. Nishant Patni, Founder of the Editors Choice Award winning Application called “Hello English”. The session was graced by the Presence of Dr. Ashok Gupta, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, IIS deemed to be University, Dr. Raakhi Gupt, Rector and Registrar, IIS Deemed to be University, Prof. M.K. Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management and Dr. Roopam Kothari, HOD, HRM & IB. The programme started by invoking the blessings of the divine by the lighting of the lamp followed by “Sarasvati Vandana” sung by the students of the University. The welcoming felicitation of the Chief Guest Sh. Nishant Patniwas done by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Sir. Thereafter, Dr. Ashok Gupta delivered the Welcoming address. After the very welcoming address, Prof. M.K Sharma Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management acquainted the participants with the aims and objective of the Conference. Stating the importance of the sharing of the Idea, the challenges of the Economic Reforms, to explore the new modules and informed the participants about the various aspects of the entire conference.

The Chief Guest, Sh. Nishant Patni was then invited to the stage to give a brief about his experiences and he being an entrepreneur told the participants about the challenges faced the by entrepreneurs and how is that an opportunity for the new upcoming entrepreneurs, marking his very precious words “the economical changes and the challenges are the opportunities which come your way and you anyhow need to grab it”.

The Inaugural Session concluded with a formal vote of thanks proposed by the Head of the Department of HRM & IB, Dr. Roopam Kothari . Followed by a small tea break

 

Technical session 1

Challenges and Strategic Initiatives in Finance was the theme of the first Technical session of the conference, which was chaired by Mr. M.C. Sharma,Vice Chairman, Rajasthan State Higher Education Council, Jaipur  and the key speakers for the session were Prof. Balwinder singh,Guru Nanak dev University, Amritsar  and Mr. Milind Date, Chief Learning Officer, ISDC, Jaipur. The welcoming address of the technical Session 1 was given by Session Co-ordinator Dr. Mahima Rai. The Chair person , Mr. M.C. Sharma kept his views about the topic of the Conference that how challenges are affecting the financial status of the country and various strategies are required to be made to overcome  these challenges.

Thereafter, Prof. Balwinder Singh acknowledged with the topic “Issues and Challenges in Changing Landscape of Indian Financial System” and  threw light on the recent changes taken place in the Indian finanacial system and the technological advancement . He briefed about the Revolution in Finance, Digital Finance, Changing face of money and currency helping the participants know about all the important aspects to run a business firm successfully. Mr. Milind Date talked about “Challenges and Strategic Initiatives in Finanace” and highlighted the financial challenges  both at micro and macro level for economic  growth of the country. Moreover he focused on the fact that “Economic Decision is based on political ideologies of everyone”

Technical Session 2

Challenges and Strategic Initiatives in HRM was the theme for the second technical session of the conference, which was chaired by Prof. H J Ghosh Roy, MDU, Rohtak and the key speakers for the session were Prof. Anil Mehta, Former Professor, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur and Mr.Diptamoy Goswami, Chief Mentor, Alchemy Grooming, Jaipur. The welcoming address of the technical session 2 was given by the session coordinator Dr. Seema Singh Rtathore. The Chair person, Prof. H J Ghosh Roy delivered his words about the topic as he stressed on the value system of the organization and how to manage the workforce and how to retain them and also talked about the right job to right person.

Afterwards, Prof. Anil Mehta discussed about “Contemporary Issues In HR” and  focused on the strategic use of human resource which distinct the good companies from the rest and were few key points which were discussed - treating employees as internal customers, creating efficient HR culture and Emerging areas for the HR. Mr. Diptamoy Goswami  talked about “Challenges and Strategic Initiatives in HRM” as he discussed the role of  human resource and one of the biggest challenge faced by the organizations is ‘Time’. He also threw light on the challenges faced in managing a family business, Knowledge management, performance management, etc and provided the solutions too.

A total of 15 papers were read in this session.

 At the end Dr. Seema Singh Rathore, session coordinator thanked all the dignitaries present there.

Day 2

Poster Presentation

Judges were welcomed with a warm speech and mementos were presented by Dr. Roopam Kothari. The Judges for the Poster Presentation were Prof. Balwinder Singh, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and Mrs. Kawaldeep Kaur. The coordinators for this session were Dr. Purnima Sharma and Ms. Ashmi Chhabra.

Total 24 posters were presented for this session.

Technical Session 3

Challenges and Strategic Initiatives in Marketing was the theme for the third technical session of the conference, it was chaired by Prof. Navin Mathur, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur and the key speakers for the session were Prof. Sanket Vij, MDU, Rohtak and Mr. Anuj Bindal, Head –Business Development and Marketing, Mahindra World City, Jaipur. The welcome address for the technical session 3 was given by the session coordinator Dr. Ruchi Jain. The Chair Person, Prof. Navin Mathur expressed his view on the topic as he talked about Marketing with Humanity that means marketers should focus on the quality for the sake of customers not just on selling the product and he also shared his point of view towards economic growth of the country and gender disparities.

Subsequently, Prof. Sanket Vij discussed about the issues which many companies face that is to select effective channels to connect with the stakeholders and he also explained the case study of NOKIA with its rise and fall in the market. He threw light on some of the key topics like societial oriented marketing, artificial intelligence, snapboard, phygital marketing, and prominence on quantity over quality and customer retention. Following that Mr. Anuj Bindal talked about the major challenges in marketing and several strategic initiative in marketing and he also spoke about the perspective of sustainability and rise of society and stressed upon some spike terms like social media marketing, managing service quality by continuous improvement, emerging international marketing practices like chatbots, pinterest, etc and also about green marketing.

Technical Session 4

 Challenges and Strategic Initiatives in Information Technology Management was the theme for the fourth technical session of the conference and it was chaired by Dr. Swati V. Chande, Prof. and Head, Department of Computer Science, International School of Informatics and Management, Jaipur. Key speakers for the session were Dr. Sonal Jain, JK Lakshmipat University, Jaipur and Mr. Nishant Singhvi, Co-founder and partner, Activant Solutions, Jaipur. Chair person, Dr. Swati V. Chande highlighted on strategic initiatives in Information Technology. Dr. Sonal Jain talked about the Future of Work: Man Machine Collaboration and she also presented a short clip showing synergy between humans and machines. Mr. Nishant Singhvi threw light on major challenges in Information Technology Management. He also acquainted audience with artificial intellignece, open sources and their future.
