Department of Business Studies organised a two day International Conference on Marketing (ICM-2015) on April 3-4, 2015. This conference provided a common platform to share the knowledge and practical experience in the field of marketing.

Inaugural Session -Dr. Ashok Gupta, Vice Chancellor, The IIS University addressed the audience through a welcome note and highlighted on the indispensability of marketing in the real world. Dean, Prof. M. K. Sharma highlighted on the objectives of the conference and the benefits gained from the conference. Mr Daniel Sundelius, Head Ericsson Manufacturing Unit, India talked about the various contemporary trends and challenges of the globe. He opined that in a dynamic and evolving world challenges are very high for a company. Technology Leadership, transformation and making generation next products as part of innovation are crucial for marketing in today’s time.

Mr. Sudhanshu Vats, Group CEO, Viacom 18, Mumbai started with his personal experiences in HUL, which enhanced marketing knowledge. He gave five messages to win in this competitive era - being glocal, retrieval of information from data, innovation, understanding consumer and working on company’s social responsibility. Dr. Raakhi Gupta, Registrar, The IIS University extended a formal vote of thanks to the guests. 

The conference had lined up 4 technical sessions chaired by luminaries from the field of marketing.

Technical Session ICorporate and Marketing Communications was Chairpersoned by Prof. H. Venketeshwarlu, Dept of Commerce, Osmania University, Hyderabad. Mukesh Chaturvedi, Dean, School of Business Studies, Sharda University, Noida talked on Identity Image and Reputation. Ms. Neetal Narang, VP- Corporate Communication, Monnett Ispat and Energy Ltd., New Delhi discussed on Corporate and Marketing Communication. During the session seven presentations were made by research scholars and faculties.

Technical Session IIEvolving Aspects of Branding was Chairpersoned by Prof. Navin Mathur, Dept of Commerce, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. Christophe Uny, France, Director, India Quality Check discussed how Indian brands are working on maintain their presence in the world. He also highlighted on the strengths and weaknesses of Indian brands on the World market with respect to branding, communication and quality. Dr. Arvind Kalia, from Patrika Group Jaipur showed the importance of branding through many videos. He also talked on brand positioning and CSR. Thirteen presentations were made by research scholars and faculties during the technical session II.

Technical Session III - ‘Contemporary trends in marketing’ was chaired by Prof. Ravindra Vinayek, Director, New Delhi School of Professional Studies and Research, New Delhi and Speakers were Prof. H.J. Ghosh Roy, MDU, Rohtak and Ms. Nitasha Gupta Chaoudhary, a marketing consultant from Jaipur.They highlighted about the evolving trends of markets and marketing in the various sectors of the economy and how can the potential be harnessed.They said that While adapting to this quick tempo of change, a company’s marketing effort must reflect an internal constancy of purpose and an external consistency of its image. For optimal success the ability to master and exploit this change has become one of the most sought-after marketing skills. During the session fifteen presentations were made by research scholars and faculties.

 

 

Technical Session IV - ‘Emerging Sectors in Service Marketing’ and was chaired by Dr. K. Senthil, Karur University, Tamil Nadu.  Our distinguished speakers for the session were Mr. Giridharan, ombudsman. RBI Jaipur and Mr. E. V. Girish, Director, SIGFA & Corporate trainer, University of Mumbai. The speakers stressed about the emerging trends in HR, finance to name a few. They also shared their views on the changing face of marketing had led to significant developments in the field. During the session twenty five presentations were made by research scholars and faculties.

 

The conference looked forward to provide an exposure to what the best of the brains from industry and academia think about this very dynamic aspect of the business world.

Valedictory Session -The Valedictory Ceremony of the conference was presided over by Prof. Som Deo, an economist former  director, ICSSR. Prof Subhash Garg and Prof. M. K. Sharma. Ms. Princy Thomas presented the conference report and the formal vote of thanks was given by Dr. Ruchi Jain, Convenor of the Conference and Head of the Department of business Studies.
